  • Hi Ruggers, welcome to the forum, but sorry to hear about your Nan having this dreadful disease. I think the medical team who are treating your Nan are trying to look at the best way to do this without causing her more discomfort than she can tolerate at this point. At 81, her ability to recover from treatment that is really aggressive would be limited so that may be what they are looking at here. What does your Nan want to do? Has anyone asked her? It sounds like you are close to her? Is she saying anything to you about this? I know it is really difficult to stand by and watch someone you love struggle with a serious illness, so this is likely really hard for you. If you, or another family member is attending her medical apts. with her, are you getting a sense of her wishes on a plan for her care?

I'm afraid its' something that your Nan and your family members need to try and come to terms with, or perhaps it might be helpful for you to phone the nurses on this forum during regular business hours at the number at the bottom of this page. You can also post your questions in the section, "Ask the Nurses" and someone will respond in a day or two.

Good luck with it and come back on here to let us know how you get along and what decision is made. I hope you do have family around you as a support for yourself. It is always good to share your concern with others going through similiar challenges.

    Take care.

    Lorraine
