  • Hello Lindyloo1966,

I just wanted to say we are all thinking of you as I think your partner is having his surgery today.  We are keeping everything crossed that it goes well and that he recovers very quickly.

I can imagine all this has come as a bit of a shock to you especially as his health has been very good. Do resist the temptation to google too much. Don't worry though, we are all guilty of doing it! As many of our witty forum members will say, it will only give you Googlitis and make you even more worried. Your partner seems to be in very good capable hands. We do have some reliable information on our site on surgery for rectal cancer which you can read here .

If you do have any question about cancer or about his treatment, this forum is a great place for you to talk to others who may have undergone similar treatment and you can also always count on our nurses as a reliable source of support and information. If you live in the UK, you can ring them on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm or get in touch with them anytime via our Ask the Nurses topic area.

Do come and let us know - when you get a chance - how the operation went.  You must be understandably nervous today and I hope our forum will be a source of comfort to you.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
