I am going though a difficult patch at the moment.
It has been two weeks since I was told I have prostate cance and it is advanced.
I have had scans and I am awaiting results to see how much damage has been done and what my treatment options are. I understand with this type of cancer they can hold back the progression by blocking my testosterone which feeds the cancer and this will give me some time - say 80% chance of lasting another 5 years but this can depend on the grade of the cancer and the progression - my cancer has a Gleason grade of 9 (4+5) which for some reason is better than 9 (5+4)
I have had a lot to take onboard in the past two weeks and I have lost a stone in weight with the worry.

I am sorry to read about your diagnosis. While you are waiting for tests/ results is perhaps one of the most stressful times. Your mind is working overtime with worry. I found in my case once I was told the full picture and what my treatment was to be, I was able to cope much better for you know what your facing. It's the not knowing that cause the worst problems.
I was very fortunate as my gleeson was 3+3=6 with the psa at 70 which was high. But the cancer was still contained within the prostate and I have made a good recovery. I had two years on hormone therapy and 37 radiotherapy sessions. The hormone therapy gave me Hot Flushes much to my wifes amusement. All I got from her was, "Now you know what we women have to go through". But it proved to be very effective so I look on it as a small price to pay.
