Alveolar sarcoma

Hi everyone. I just recently (couple of months) back got diagnosed with aveolar sarcoma. It had grew in my thigh and hip and some has spread onto my lungs. 4 weeks ago today i underwent major surgery to have my hip and thigh bone replaced and muscle and soft tissue removed. Means im in a wheelchair for 8 weeks. Im 29 and still live at home with mum..who has been amazing. But i get so frightened at times and dont want to worry her. My biggest fear was the op and now its done...successfully i cant stop thinking of whats next. Im driving myself crazy...not living and not being ready to give up either. I hope you are all doing well in your own journeys x

  • Hello Smiler87,

A big welcome to our forum.  It is normal to be frightened after all you have been through at such a young age too but I am glad your operation went well. It must be quite difficult for you at the moment as you are still recovering from the operation and having to be in a wheelchair for 8 weeks. Time must go slowly sometimes and I hope you have good distractions to keep you company such as a good book for example. I wish you a speedy recovery from your operation and I am glad your mum is looking after you well.

You have come to the right place to talk to others who may be in a similar situation, not wanting to worry their loved ones but needing to talk to someone who can truly understand. I hope some of our members will be along soon to share their story and their feelings with you.

    Best wishes,
