I was just wondering if anyone has had fec chemo and how they got on with it. I Have just had my first round. How long is it likely to be till I start losing my hair?

Hi
I hope your feeling OK how long ago did you have it,I've coped very well with fec just had #3.
I started loosing my hair on around day 14 of my 1st treatment and slowly lost it over a week or so until just before #2 when it all fell out in the bath and I got my husband to shave it off.

hi, I had fec chemo in 2014 ,myhair started to fall out on about 14th day ,so shaved it all off,it made me feel I had taken control, in fact I felt it was very liberating, you know just shower and go! I also liked having a whole summer of hair free legs, lovely and smooth, as for the chemo, well not pleasant but bearable, the thing is to keep yourself well,I lost my appetite pretty quickly but you have to make yourself eat what you can, when you can ,otherwise you have no strength and tiredness takes over ,listen to your body ,if you feel tired then rest ,drink lots of water, you will get through it ,I tried to keep life as normal as possible on the good days ,and on the not so good days I stayed home and slept and rested as much as possible,I hope this is useful to you, remember you are never alone with this, good luck, stay positive,
Hi Smudge1,
I too started to lose my hair on day 14 and had my head shaved the day before my second cycle of treatment (last Wednesday). Initially I did find this upsetting but I have hardly thought about it since. Good luck with everything. X
Hi ness
I'm on day 10, and not feeling to bad at the mo. Day 1 to 4 wasn't too pleasant lots of nausea, but managed thanks to ginger. Hope you are feeling ok.xx
Hi
Glad your not feeling too bad.I had a few bad days on my 1st treatment. The 2nd two I e been much better aside from the dry mouth.
So I should imagine that you will begin loosing your hair by the end of this week.I'm sorry,it's not nice and I did struggle with it.I had a nice hair cut to start with it only lasted a fee days but it helped as I've (usually) very long hair. And once it had gone I haven't really though about it much.Have you got a wig? Our hospital have a wig shop and a lady that finds you the perfect one.I've gone for loads of scarfs and hats.
Take care Ness x
*sorry about the spelling..my phone likes to change things.should get the laptop out! X
Lol ness my phone does the same!!!! I have a voucher for a wig but not sure whether I want one, will definitely have a look for some funky scarves, I like to be a bit different!! Take care speak soon.x
Thanks for your reply are you still having treatment or have you finished? Hope you are well. Take care.x
Hi Smudge,
I hope that all is still going okay for you.
Yes, I am still going through treatment and completed my second cycle of FEC last Wednesday. So far, the only side effect that I have experienced (apart from hair loss) has been a very dry mouth - yuk - but it could be a lot worse! I have chosen not to wear a wig as I know that I would not feel comfortable with this - I have always been a wearer of Beanie Hats anyway. Mind you, I thought that I was looking super cool wearing one of my new hats during treatment last week only to be informed by my son (after the event) that I had been wearing it inside out!
Anyway, we are now heading away for a few days so I will check in on my return.
Good luck with everything and sending warm thoughts your way. X
Thanks have a lovely break away, hopefully plenty of fresh air.x
