Terminal lung cancer - treatment options

Hi everyone

Stumbled across this forum whilst trying to research treatment options so thought it would be a good place to start for advice. My dad was diagnosed with mouth cancer in August 2015 and underwent major surgery to remove the tumour from his tongue in September, followed by radiotherapy and minimal chemotherapy in November.

Unfortunately we received the news (after a suspected chest infection) that the cancer has spread to his lungs and it is inoperable and incurable. We only found out last Tuesday so this is the only info we have been given so far. He is due to see the radiologist next week as chemo could be an option to try and prolong life however my dad cannot consider this currently as he is still building himself back up from his treatment last year (he is 3 stone lighter than before diagnosis and due to the reconstruction of half of his tongue is just managing to eat a soft diet as opposed to having substenance drinks). He currently feels well but just tired and weak from losing weight and muscle tone.

A friend of a friend has advised to research non-invasisve options such as radiofrequency Ablation, Cryoablation & Gamm Knife as well as an immunotherapy drug called Pembro.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on the above treatments and also the kind of questions we should be asking the radiologist next week?

I understand that everyone is different so they can't say for certain, but they will not give him a prognosis on how long they think he has left. What we're struggling with is, if we have no idea on timescales then how can we make a judgement over my dad spending potentially the last two months of his life in and out of hospital appointments......or spending the time as comfortably as possible at home with this his family. By accepting the later I feel defeatist but completely appreciate it's his body and he's already been through so much.

I get married in September so the fight is completely worth it for us to share that day together.

Thanks in advance! x
