invasive ductal breast cancer stage 3

Just been diagnosed this week, I'm 34 and have a 1 year old and a 4 1/2 year old. I'm terrified and can not stop crying if I'm left too long with my thoughts. I can not stand the waiting for treatment to begin and just want to get on with this fight!

Anything I can be doing in the mean time, I'm starting to look at my diet and exercise, I'm not over weight but trying to gain some control and feel like I am doing something instead of waiting!

  • Hi Zoe - I am so sorry to hear of what you are going through and what is ahead of you.  You will get through it all - somehow you do and we come out okay.  There is a book: Take Cancer of the Menu - I cannot remember the author, but it's available on Amazon on Kindle and also paperback and its only a few quid.  I was diagnosed with pre-invasive breast cancer in July of last year and had a lumpectomy, 2 re-incisions and then radiotherapy - now  on Tamoxifen for 5 years approx.  I was fortunate to be in the early stages but the worry is always there that it may be back or will be back etc.  I really hope you get through this and you will have great care medically and the Cancer Care nurses are so good and will help too. In the beginning it's that overwhelming feeling when you are on your own or at night and it starts going round in your head, you feel as though your head will burst as you never thought you would be going through something like this.  It's devastating, but I can honestly say, you just get on with it - and take whatever they throw at you and treatment is so advanced now.  You will be okay.  Stay strong. Take care and really hope it helps.  Best wishes ....xxxx

  • Hi Zoe,

Sorry to hear your shocking news. I really do know the feeling of receiving such news. I was diagnosed with Invadive Lobular Breast cancer Grade 2 back in Feb 2015 and then had surgery (lumptoctmy) April 1 it took a few days yo get my head round it, but like you i just wanted to crack on with the treatment and having to wait was hard. Back at work was hsrd too, only really told a helpful of prople

Well surgery went well and recovery went well i then had Rafiotherepy 20 sessions. Thats not too bad Zoe, can be a little tired but just nap when u can. Stay positive my lovely and if i can help in anyway just ask. I have had my one year memogram and go for my results next week. Think the being anxious is always gong to be there. Good Luck. Debbie

  • Thank you for your reply, I have looked at the facebook page and it's nice to have something to focus on and you are right it is very informative. Need to check out Amazon next.

It's good to know others journey's, people who have been through it and can relate to what is happening.

Your words are so encouraging. Thank you for sharing, good luck and keep sharing your positivity X X X

  • Thank you Debbie, I have surgery surgery book for a fortnight and have been told I will need radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

I have informed work of diagnosis and only work in a small team, but will only just be returning next week following a year's maternity leave. Then following the surgery I'm not sure how quickly I'd return and when I'd start Radiotherapy and chemotherapy and how that fits around work.

Thank you for your support and I wish you all the best for next week with results X X X
