Does sugar feed cancer?

I have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and will be starting chemo on 29th Feb. I have been told by a friend to cut out as much sugar as possibly from my diet. I have read conflicting reports and don't know what to do for the best. My cancer is incurable but the hope is that the chemo will slow it down/shrink it. I welcome any advice.

  • I totally agree with GrahamM at the start of this conversation when he said "People feel robbed of control and need to feel that they can "do" something - of course there are very few things you can do to affect your body but you can change your eating - and I think that's one reason that so many of these "cures" are about eating something or not eating something else."

So, placebo effect or not? Nobody knows. But I seem to recall a study that showed that the placebo effect might even have some effect too! So I don't really care what it is that's helping as long as it does and I'm feeling ok ;)

A better diet has helped me towards hope, focus and, as it is nutritious, towards better general health :D

I was 18 1/2 stone 7 years ago and totally addicted to white starch and sugar. Now I'm not. So, for me it's a simple answer.
