56 year old male and recently diagnosed with Kidney cancer

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Kidney cancer Early December 2015 and had a 2 klo Renal cell carcinoma removed 20th December  and found that it had not spread to other organs. Unfortunately within 2 weeks I developed Sepsis and had further surgery. My problem now is that I find myself being a bit of a hypercondriac - I will call my GP at the slightest twinge or cough. This is not me  - I normally only see myGP when absolutely necessary and need to be draged by my wife.Has anyone else had the same experience ? Is this normal after surgery ?

  • Hi John,  yes I think it is perfectly normal.  In the 17 months since I was first diagnosed I have thought it has returned in my lungs, brain, kidneys and even a fingernail. I have learnt to calm myself but I am not sure it ever goes away, we just learn to manage it.

Things will get better and you will feel easier.  With my very best wishes
