I took it quite well at the start just because I thought what can you do , nothing is going to change what the doctor just told you. But now I'm finding it very hard, haven't found anyone like me and I don't know who is easiest to speak to.

Hi Jess
Yes, most of the people here are older
Have you seen this web site
www.clicsargent.org.uk/.../young-people
It's specifically for people 16-24 with Cancer - I think there are some forums ther too but youre welcome to talk to us old codgers too ;)
Think the moderators say RipRap is a really good forum for younger people too. Hopefully you can find someone going through a similar situation.
How are you coping with your diagnosis and are you having treatment at the moment.? I guess whatever age we are doesn't change the scary thoughts we all have when going through this. Have you got lots of people to support you through? X
Hi I know how you feel. I was diagnosed last week and still reeling. I've told people but no one realises how scared I am.
I thought about RipRap Max but it's a bit more focussed towards people who have familly with cancer rather than those fighting it themselves - might be worth a look though Jess
Is it ? Thanks Graham, I didn't know that, just remembered seeing the moderators mentioning it to someone. I hope jess gets in touch again and sees geds message. Speak soon x
Thank you, and yes I got lots of support but I don't want them to worry too much.
In the first week it was all more of just a blur being rushed to hospitals but it does start to make sense just take it in bit by bit.
RipRap is a web site http://www.riprap.org.uk/ it tends to mostly focus on help for young people whose parents develop cancer.
I sent you the link to the other because that's more focussed on young people who have cancer themselves.
As for not wanting to "bother" people - go to it, This is their job, people will fully understand that it's all a blur, this isn't a headache you've developed!
It's a blur to anyone - when my wife went to see the specialist it was my job to remind her of all the things she wanted to ask in the last week or two to make sure she didn't forget anything - I'd recommend it - sit down with someone who is going in with you when you see them and make a list of questions
Hello Jess1611,
Welcome to our lovely forum. I hope you get some good support here but I see it already started well and you have had a warm and friendly welcome.
It's true Max - and well remembered - that we mods repeatedly recommend RipRap to young people affected by cancer but Graham is right - RipRap specializes in helping young people cope when a parent has cancer.
