Cervical Cancer

Hello -

I was diagnosed with stage 2A cervical cancer 3 years ago.  I had 26 rounds of external and 6 rounds of internal radiation along with chemo.  Due to a bleeding event prior to my diagnosis I was not able to have surgery. I know how scary a diagnosis can be, the treatments, waiting for results,  the recovery.  If anyone would like to ask me questions about my experiences, please do so. Obviously everyone's cancer is different and only doctor can give medical advice,  but sometimes it helps to talk to someone who's been through it.

Prayers to all that are facing this disease.

  • Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it.

It is the not knowing either way which is worse, as I am sure everyone on here has experienced.

Hopefully, it is as you said, something else. Or indeed in the early stages as you said.

    Thank you once again, x

  • Hello,

I had my colposcopy on Thursday the 29th of July and I am currently waiting on the results. I know it has only been 1 week but the waiting is hard as it feels like everything has been put on hold until I know what is what.

I am sincerely hoping it is something else altogether. However, I was having irregular bleeding, bleeding after sex, stomach pain the day after sex and also severe lower back ache. All the bleeding is very unusual for me as I have never experienced either previously. Also, I have been going to the bathroom far more frequently.

From reading the forums I know these are pretty common symptoms which is even more concerning.

    Hi Laura and

    [@Minska]

Week one done no issues so far feeling fine eating and drinking OK, getting out for walk everyday.

I know things are likely to go downhill just glad the first week passed without any issues.

    Hope you are both well.

  • Hello AMF

Good to hear from you and to know you’ve got the first week under your belt. The effects in my experience were cumulative, so I did fine for the first 2 weeks before the fatigue and everything else started. Some ladies sail through it all, so it is different for everyone, but you’ve just got to take it day by day. Hoping you continue to do well, and thanks for coming back with your update. x

  • Hi,

Glad things are going well! Keep moving forward but listen to your body and rest when you need to. I was pretty tired after treatments but I also had spent 10 days in the hospital prior to starting due to a bleeding event. They started radiation and chemo in the hospital  to stop the bleeding, so that was a good thing.  Keep us posted - you got this!

  • Hello Laura,

I know this is an old post but I could really do with someone to talk to, I've been for a coloscopy today and the doctor saw what she said was very suspicious with a high risk of it being cancer, she said there was a nasty infection there as well, she sat me down I was in total shock, she did the biopsy and said the cells just fell away, I need mri and ct to see if it has spread, I'm so frightened, the only symptoms I've had is a few spots of blood on the toilet roll, and a bit of pelvic pain , I'm frightened to death x

  • Oh Dawnann, we’ve spoken before but I’m so sorry you’ve had such a difficult day. No wonder you are frightened. But those of us who have been through this before will try and help support you if we can. xx

  • Thank you so much I'm praying it hasn't spread cus of Not many symptoms, just hoping if it has it is treatable, thank you for replying x

  • The mri and CT will give a good picture of what’s going on. I assumed at first that my cancer would have spread, but it hadn’t, so try not to assume the worst just yet. Cervical cancer is treatable at all stages, and the treatment is very standard at all stages, so no matter what-there will be a treatment plan. I’ve been through a lot of treatment, and surgeries, so if I can help at all, I’m happy to do so if I can.xx

  • Hi Dawn,

I understand that this is a frightening time but you are doing the right thing in taking care of your health. Like Minska said, cervical cancer is treatable. Take it one day, one appointment, and one treatment at a time, if it comes to that. You can do it! Let us know how you do.
