Diagnosed with leukaemia 3 days before Christmas

Hi,

I'm 22 and was diagnosed with t-cell ALL leukaemia 3 days before  Christmas after suffering with lots of nose bleeds and fatigue during the last 6 weeks. I have no family that will support me as they haven't wanted anything to do with me since I was 18 when I told them I was transgender and began living as a female.

My first chemo begins on 6 Jan and I haven't  even told the company I work for that I have cancer as I have been on annual leave for the past 2 weeks! Feel very much alone, pretty scared, and struggling to cope with idea that I have cancer.

  • Hi, kerry,  it's a very sad situation you find yourself in, in many ways.

I think, firstly, you must tell your company and get their support.  Then getin touch with your Macmillan nurse, your local GP and any local charities that may help. You really need support around you.  It is so very sad that your family could not support your lifestyle - do you think there is any possibility they would perhaps support you now?  Give the nurses on here a call, I am sure they may be able to help.

With my very best wishes.  Please come and talk to us anytime and let us know how you are getting on.
