eliza

has anyone been recently diagnosed. cancer news was a birthday present in december.

  • Hi Eliza and sorry to hear your news. Welcome to the forum and if you read through the threads you will find several with others in your situation and can post to members that way.  You can also start a new discussion about your specific diagnosis if you would prefer to hear from members with the same disease.

Whichever it is devastating to hear you have the illness and I wonder how you are coping with that and if you have supportive family and friends who are helping you through?  I guess your mind is full of questions.  Do you know when your next appointment is?  I guess that will be to discuss treatment.

Take good care and I hope you feel you can come back and find some support here. X

  • HI Eliza

Sorry to hear your bad news.I had my diagnosis on December 18th.

This is s great place to get advice and support from people who are going through exactly the same things you are.And people who are a little further down the treatment line who can offer advice regarding what to expect etc..

Everyone is here if you want to talk.

    Take care Ness x

  • Hi Eliza my dear husband  had the terrible diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer in December. A huge shock to us too as he had no other symptoms other than uncontrollable weight loss.

This is my first time on this forum and I'm hoping for a way to help me cope with my feelings of despair and fear as 2016 is now upon us and we may not welcome 2017 together x

  • thanks for replying.  got a supportive family but feel guilty bombarding them with this stuff. used to dealing with stuff on my own. told me i have sigmoid carcinoma tumer, 50mm and i need treatment first to shrink the tumer. so scared. do not want to have a outer extention.

  • my first time too.. i  so wish you both well.

Welcome to the club and I am sure if given the choice you would not have taken up the invite .... But hey! Who had a choice

These are obviously worrying times for you and you are now worried about worrying your family.

If you really think you are strong enough to go through this by yourself but have a good network of close friends then that's a way I suppose....but you are entering a period of your life where you are going to need all the support you can get

And after all these are you loved ones you are talking about

In times like this you need to think about what's best for you and having a great support network around you can help through those crap days

I wish you all the best for 2016 though

  • thankyou. havnt been feeling good for ages. bought a fit bit, shaun dvd etc and was just ready to get on fitness trail. then got test for bowel cancer which was positive. just an up an down journey. threw my fitness band in the cupboard and thought whats the point. then got a letter to say it hasnt spread. felt positive for a few hours but now im thinking i dont know what.  im oblviously not the only one this is happening to but i think why me.

  • Hi,

I'm 22 and was diagnosed with leukaemia 3 days before Christmas and start chemo on 6th Jan. No family for support so going through it by myself but, looking on here, I'm not going going through it alone. I wish you all the best and hope it all works out for you.
