Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi' I have just be diagnosed with testicular cancer in both testicals I know not the best way to introduce myself but I am terrified. It's one two week since I found that something was wrong with one testical being hard. Two weeks later it is twice the size and I have terrible back and I have started getting stomach pain now. I just don't know how to deal with all this. I am going to have the right testical removed next week I think which fills me with dread the left may need to come off also. So I am terrible field that I will die and terrified that I will live and will no longer be a man. Has anyone one else out there been through this as I need help. Thanks..

  • I have a friend who had this 30 years ago and he is very healthy and fit now, he had sperm frozen and went on to have 2 children now in their late teens. but I don't know details of whether he had one or two testicles removed. don't know him well enough to ask now.

best of luck to you, wishing you well. x

  • Sorry to hear the news. But remmember no matter how bad things look from the start it can get better. But you need to do some research about your type of cancer and know as much as you possibly can. Knowledge is power and if you can understand the situation then you can talk eye to eye with the doctor and work together to find a solution. Don't just leave it up to the doctor. Only yourself will work day and night for your cause. Just remember a doctor has many patients. Pubmed should become your new best friend. Learn about every drug, treatment, surgery etc about testicular cancer. (type in keywords and cancer studies will pop up )Then you can compare and see which route has the best % of success. Another good site is cancermind.com. It also has a lot of valuable information in an easy to read format. It has information about things that work for pain, treatment reviews, what to avoid etc.

Just think postive, relax, and find a solution.

    Good luck

  • Thanks xcancer, I have had my first surgery to remove right testical which wasn't as bad as I thought. I know have to wait two weeks for the doctor to tell me what the next step will be. Still scared stiff that I will loose the left testical next. But I'm trying to be more positive but it's hard I'm really trying to forget about it for the time being. Thanks once again xcancer I
