Feeling low

I was diagnosed with breast cancer end  of Oct., (dumbbell tumour) had it removed yesterday along with 3 lymph nodes. Now the waiting for results of biopsy begins again, (two weeks) I am hoping that I will not require further surgery.  Radiotherapy begins in the new year. It is such a roller coaster ride, I just want to get off, my head is fuzzy. Feeling so low

  • Hi Shirley,

Sorry to read you are feeling low. Waiting for results is one of the worst times because of the uncertainty it causes. You will get through it. Wishing you all the best and sending kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Hi Brian, thank you so much for your reply. I feel a bit alone and having to fight this on my own as my family don't really understand the emotional side. This causes so much anxiety. I think I need to be a lot stronger and stand my ground! Shirley

  • Hi Shirly,

I understand what you say about your family not appreciating you emotions. Its often said that unless one has had cancer, you just dont appreciate the emotional toll it has exacted on us. Your thought processes are all over the place for cancer causes so much uncertainty and fear. Thats why this forum is so needed because people on here understand because most have gone through the same thing at some stage.

I have found in the time I have been a member of this forum, it is often the case that families othen dont talk openly and honestly with each other which is a shame for that is exactly the time it is needed more than ever before. Maybe you should open up and tell them how your feeling as they may well be reluctant to open up to you for various reasons.

Wishing you all the very best and please keep in contact, Brian.
