I welcomed you on your other thread but I thought I would also pop in here to help you connect with other people on this forum who have experience of AML. A few months ago, josiemoss posted and shared her news that she had been diagnosed with AML and had to be away from her children. Perhaps you could drop her a line on her thread here ? I am sure you would have a lot to say to one another.

Our information on AML may also be of interest to you. I hope than in responding I will have bumped your thread to the top of the forum and hopefully it will be spotted by others who have had AML or are currently going through treatment for it.

I was diagnosed with AML in October and have had 3 bouts of chemo. More after Christmas. I have an amazing consultant

 We are on first name terms. He rings me at home regularly and insists on talking to my wife as well. When first diagnosed he told me that without treatment I only had 3 months to live. He is pleased with my progress and my bloods are all back in the normal range. A chap I spoke to at the hospital told me he has been having chemo for AML for two years. Daunting thought I know, but at least it's kept him alive for that length of time.

My partner has just been diagnosed with aml and is about to have his first chemo. Glad to hear your progress is going we'll. GIves me hope

He is 55. Been told that he has a mutation that puts him in high risk category

Hi, my dad is waiting for his formal diagnosis, he's been told it's mathematical between whether he has AML or MDS. The difference is treatment will be just injections or Injections and tablets. We are worried about the risk of infection once he starts chemo. How are you coping with it?
