Introducing myself

I live in Ontario, Canada, my husband, a retired firefighter has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer with a cancer cell that has a tendency to spread.  An occupational hazard of firefighting, plus he smoked, which didn't do him any favours.  We were not happy with our first oncology meeting, we felt like they wrote him off after only one visit.  Chemo is out because of poor kidney function, radiation is acceptable and if it has t spread, they can remove his bladder and make a new one.  We do know someone who has had this done and he is absolutely fine.  We get all the bad news in January.  We heard from British friends that there is a new age cancer drug that is given if chemo is not an option, has anyway heard of it and what is it called.

  • Hi, welcome to this site.  I am so sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis and I am afraid I don't have any answers for you.  I have totally different cancers (although I do have one heading for my bladder, apparently).  I refused chemotherapy and was given hormone therapy, which I think quite a few people on here have taken.  I do hope someone comes back with some answers soon for you.

With my very best wishes to you.
