Nervous

I was diagnosed with cancer of the ureter in November this has taken months for the diagnosis I first went to hospital early September had cystcopy and CT scan had to wait until October for biopsies was. I was told in November I had cancer in the ureter and was going to have to have my kidney ureter and bladder cuff removed I was then referred to another hospital 30 th November and have now been given date of  22nd of December for operation it has taken neally three and a half months for treatment I am so worried it could have spread in this time but I seem to be the only one that is worried

  • Hi there Dudley, welcome to the forum but sorry for why you're here. I can tell that you are very frustrated that nothing was done sooner in getting a diagnosis. It sounds like your cancer has spread if you've been told that your kidney and bladder will be removed along with the ureter. Have they said the cancer is in your kidney and bladder, or is it just in the ureter? You should get clarification on that. I had a tumor in my ureter and they replaced it wil an artificial one, but left my kidney and bladder there. At the time, they thought the cancer came from my kidney, but it didn't, it actually is in my bladder and worked its' way up the ureter. I am still being treated for the bladder cancer. I also have lung cancer, unrelated to the bladder cancer. When you next see your doctor, it might be helpful if someone goes with you and also make a list of questions before you go, so you know exactly what's going on.

Come back on the forum and let us know how you are getting along and also to get support as you take this cancer journey, which can be a very lonely one if you do it alone.

    Take care.
