Hello worried here

Hi

A very worried newbie here I had my first mamogram on 14th September was called back and told breast cancer on the 21st since then i have not stopped. I have had all the normal tests or so I presume I have had a mastectomy and reconstruction 17 November . Now have been told I have to have Chemo and radiation which originally I was told I did not need. Today topped it by saying I need to have a bone scan and Chemo to start in two weeks but I said no and agreed to 3 weeks. Also my HER2 results are still not back.

please come say hello any info would be great.

  • Hi Tish, My daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer in March and has had chemo, then surgery and then radiotherapy.I understand that every case is different and which order the treatment goes on depends on you and the doctors/surgeons advice.

Good to hear you are through the op ok. I am sure that you will only be given the chemo and radiotherapy if its agreed that you will benefit. Having a bone scan can only be a good thing surely ?

Good luck and best wishes to you

  • Hi Lexia

Thank you for your reply I am sorry to hear about your daughter I hope she is doing well.

The rason I am worried is that the cancer was much bigger than they thought with other bits attached to it?

I am worried that a bone scan could mean it has moved on already (they did take a piece of rib) when the reconstruction was being done. Here's hoping it will be clear :)

  • Hi Tish

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March ..it's been crazy ...the hospital was like my second home ..I had lots of tests..the doctors seem to throw lots of curve balls re decisions and answers but they are taking each step at a time ...I had a mastectomy and then two months later started 16 sessions of chemo . I had to have various scans prior to my surgery ..,I also have to go and have  gene testing as my mum died in her forties from ovarian. I would say don't panic ( easier said than done) Trust in the doctors...although all new and bewildering to us, they have done it lots of times before sadly ! I tried to micro manage everything but I eventually learned to live week to week and look forward to normal stuff. Try to not overthink what decisions they make ...trust them and concentrate on getting through. Give it the best battle you can... I have further surgery to go but greatful I made it through the chemo ...sending you all my best  Catherine x
