Just diagnosed

My husband has just been diagnosed with cancer and I am heartbroken. It is a cancer of unknown primary and we are so scared. He is having an endoscopy on Wednesday and meeting the Oncology team a week Monday. I feel numb and so worried. He has always been so fit and well. I really do need to chat to someone who understands. We have not had anyone in our family with cancer before and for that we are grateful . I don't let him see me cry and he is being so strong. It's just been a very big shock for us all.

  • Hi,

Welcome to this friendly forum. I am so sorry to read your post and believe me, I know how you feel all too well. Cancer has hit my family hard. All of us on here know the problems incurred when first diagnosed and when we are waiting for test or results. Our minds seem to be programed to go into overdrive and always seem to assume the worst. Time seems to stand still and a week seems to take forever. You have made a wise choice in joining for there are some truley wonderful people on here who will understand your feelings. Take care and please keep in contact. Sending best wishes and kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Thank you Brian for your kind words and best wishes. Things seem to be going from bad to worse. I had to call an ambulance in the early hours as my husband was so unwell. He now has pneumonia and is not well at all. When I left the hospital tonight he has started to feel much better. He has been on intravenous antibiotics since 3am which have now started to work. I just pray we get a good result next week and they are able to offer him treat, ent. Once again thank you for your kind words Michelle
