  • Hello Denise,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear you have recently been diagnosed with a rare cancer of the appendix.

You have come to the right place though for information and support. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give our nurses a ring. They are only a phone call away. You can call the team Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on: 0808 800 4040.

Although your cancer is rare, there are others in this forum who have received a similar diagnosis. For example, ns11 would be a great person for you to talk to. You can read ns11's story here and don't hesitate to share yours on ns11's thread so that hopefully you two get chatting!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, Denise, I attend a gynae group and we have had two ladies who came because they were diagnosed with endometrial cancer but when operated on found it was in their appendix.  I believe that they had complete hysterectomies and their appendix removed.  They went on to have radiotherapy and seem to be getting on fine.  Of course, everybodys cancer is different but I think you must be positive as so much can be done these days.  Please let us know how you get on and come back and chat to us.

  • Hi thanks for replies I have been referred to Basingstoke for my rare appendix cancer and am going for outpatient app on 14th Dec I have to travel from Sunderland to Basingstoke for a one hour app its mad a long long journey for an hour app. I don't know anyone with this rare cancer as be great to talk to someone in my position.

  • Hi, that's an awful long way to go for an appointment.  One of the ladies that I mentioned in my last post on here who had cancer of the appendix. also went to Basingstoke for her treatment but she was given a choice of thereor Manchester, which I am sure must be closer to you. Why don't you check whether there is a closer choice.  I have just changed hospitals and found that there were several I could have gone to, closer than the 4 hour round trip to the hospital I was first sent to.  Good luck and let us know how you go.
