Sorry to hear you have been diagnosed, waiting for surgery can play on your mind. Take each day as it comes as you say

You just want it over and done with, I know I did. You just want to know what the outcome of it all is going to be, where is it going to leave you.

I made the mistake of searching the internet, and found many horror stories, but everything went well in the end. Not the same surgery as you but I did have the active isotope. The best of luck to you.

It is a waiting game. Like you, I have been on the intetnet and sickened myself with all the information.

Ive decided to just go with the flow, what will be will be. All we can do is keep positive and look after ourselves as best we can. 

At least it makes you grateful for each day and gives more meaning to life.

Sorry you have been diagnosed with  Cancer. I'm the same age as you mine was found through

A Mammogram in March. And had my surgery end of March and  when my results came through

I was very lucky they graded it to grade l not 2. And had not spread. The waiting is the worst my

Family and friends were great try not to worry to much. I'm glad you have found this chat line.

I did it find it until after my surgery. You will get a lot of comfort here and good advice. Good Luck

Hi Flowerburn, sorry to hear you having surgery next week. I too had invasive breast cancer on one side, (and also tubular on the other) so had a double op back in March. Like you, I had the radioactive injections the day before and was really dreading that bit but actually it was absolutely fine and certainly in my case no problem at all. As you said, it all felt very surreal at the time and yes, it is a long haul with lots of waiting and worrying between stuff but you do get through it in the end, I promise. We are all treated according to our individual cases of course but I think it is pretty standard to have surgery first to remove the tumor then, depending on the pathology report, radiotherapy to catch any stray cells left behind, followed by hormone treatment to help prevent recurrence. Knowing that others have been down this route is very comforting because, as you say, it can be a very lonely time, even with good support from family & friends. I have had lots of wonderful advice and help from the very kind folk on here, Jean included, so please feel free to ask about anything you want and we will all try to help as best we can.  Take care and look after yourself. Hi FLowerburn , just recently had lumpectomy for stage 2 invasive 38mm breast cancer. I am oestrogen positive, HER2 negative , Sentinal nodes negative. Have my oncology appointment tomorrow. The waiting for results is the hardest bit, wait seems to go on for ever. Slowly slowly you get all the answers about your particular type of cancer and then you can move forward to make a treatment plan. That is where I am now, finally ! I have started a discussion on the forum called "radioactive ion injection for Sentinal node removal" which might be useful to read and also another one called "pain relief post lumpectomy" just put them in the search box at the top of the chats. They might be useful. Happy to answer any queries you have as I am just a few steps ahead of you on this journey!  You are not aloneXx
