I feel so low

Having had the good news that my breast cancer hasn't spread to the rest of my body, i initially felt great relief, but it's suddenly hit me like a brick that I still have cancer and i now feel incredibly low. Very few people know that I am ill. Those who do are still reeling from the shock so I don't want to burden them , but I feel awful.

  • Hi Margaret, you really are having such bad luck with all these blasted infections, I'm so sorry. Fingers crossed it gets the message quickly and vanishes in time for no.3 Sue x

  • Hi Ladies

3rd chemo done and dusted on Thursday, I start my injections on Monday which hubby has been volunteered to do for me.  Not feeling too bad, a bit tired and washed out and my chemo arm aches but otherwise okay.

I hope your infection is under control Margaret, it's soooo frustrating when the sessions have to be delayed. I just want it all over and done with.  Hopefully the injections should get me back on track, my 4th chemo is booked for October 8th so fingers crossed - for all of us as it looks like we're all around the same stage.

    Have a nice weekend everyone.

    Tracey xx

  • Third session due next week. Anyone else with sore eyes ? Mine feel so dry. Will have to ask if i can use drops! Also have rash on chest, been treating it with Almond oil which seems to help but I don't know if I'm doing the right thing.

hope everyone else is doing well xxxx

  • Hi Flora

I can't say I've had sore eyes.  I usually wear glasses and have continued to wear my contacts when I've been going out and not noticed any difference but we're not all the same are we?  Hope your 3rd chemo goes okay, I'm fine just a bit tired.

I started my injections yesterday to build my immune system up so hopefully no more delays.  Hubby did this for me, I don't think I could do it myself as I had to close my eyes very tightly!!! It was okay though, just an injection.

I've got an ECG on Thursday but next week is free of hospital appointments yipee!!

    Hope everyone is okay xx

  • Well , third session of chemo done and dusted. So relieved , was afraid they wouldn 't treat me as I've hsd a dental abscess and am on antibiotics. Better news too, tumour has shrunk so might have l.umpectomy rather than mastectomy.

Oh and Wales won at rugby!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well,

    love,

    Flora x

  • Hi Flora, fabulous news about the shrinking tumour and possible lumpectomy... not so good to hear about the abscess though, ouch!  Take care  Sue x

  • Hi
That is really good news Flora. Continue to be postive, it does make a diffrence !

    Hi Flora

I thought I might not get my 3rd chemo as I've had a cold since the week before but I did and it's just clearing now - I've passed it to hubby bless him!

I had a lumpectomy too, although I did have to have another op as they hadn't taken a clear enough margin and although I was scared and worried I was fine.  The 2nd time I even sat comforting another tearful lady in the waiting room and she was fine too.  I hope your abscess soon clears.

I'm just hoping the injections I had after my last chemo have worked to build my immune system up so that next week's 4th chemo goes ahead as planned, fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed for England rugby on Saturday or I will have to put up with one very unhappy husband. Oh well, I'll pour him another guiness!!

    Take care everyone

  • Hi everyone, so pleased with your good news Flora, what a weight off your mind! The lumpectomy isn't too bad and mine was done in a natural skin crease so hopefully won't show too much.  Good to hear  you are also doing well Tracey and they did the chemo despite the cold.  Best wishes to you both.

i haven't been feeling too good, got the breast infection, which was a pain to say the least and came the week after my chemo which made me feel really poorly on top,of feelling poorly. Then I developed lymphodema in my arm which swelled alarmingly. Have been to,the lymphodema clinic about that and was given a compression sleeve which made my hand swell. So I was told to take it off immediately and have been sent a new sleeve with mitten attached to stop the swelling in my hand. The chemo has done something to the vein and it is painful from wrist to elbow, so they have had to try to find another for my 3rd chemo this afternoon.  Apparently I have narrow veins so,they have to use a paediatric needle which makes the infusions take so much longer.  A right catalogue of disasters really, but al least I have had the chemo and am now half way through.  Hooray! Oh, I forgot to mention problems I am having In the nether regions which they think is thrush and has to be investigated next week oh joy!

On the positive side, I went to a "look good feel better" session yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially meeting ladies who live locally. We have arranged a day out, which is something to look forward to. Don't know if you have been given the chance to go to this workshop, but it is worth the effort!

best wishes to you both.  Margaret xx

    Hi everyone

I hope you're feeling better Margaret and your veins are ok.  Mine seem to ache too but I suppose it goes with the job.

Flora, have you got a date for your lumpectomy yet or won't they sort that until you finish chemo?

The injections I had after my last lot of chemo have worked and I'm due for number 4 tomorrow.  This is the T part of the FECT so I understand the side effects will be different.  Hey ho bring it on let's get it sorted so that we can all get better soon.

I've been looking at the "look good feel better" workshops but I have been working in between my chemos so I haven't really been able to fit it in.  The nearest to me is about 10 miles but I do drive so that's not an issue, I really must take another look and make the effort to go.

Take care everyone, I'll catch up after my next "big poisoned needle" soon :)
