my dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer

I'm really not sure how to feel at this point. Its like I'm in a really bad dream and I just want to wake up. My dad was given 8 to 10 months to live and I'm not sure what to expect or how to process this

  • Hi tcrain

Welcome to the forum but sorry for the reason you find yourself here. It is very hard to come to terms with hearing the diagnosis of a loved one and can take a little time to process. Timescales tend to be just guidelines as everyone's personal journey's are different.  If your Dad has been given palliative care, with his permission, you will be able to ask the questions that concern you.  Sometimes its helps to understand what is happening but some people would rather not know and just take the time to enjoy the life they have left.  My husband had a terminal diagnosis for a different kind of cancer and craved 'normality' for as long as was possible.

Come and chat on the forum if you would like to and you can also ring the nurses Mon to Fri 9-5 free from UK landlines and most mobiles if you would prefer a more personal chat. I hope you have support from family and friends which I found a great comfort during a very emotional time. Jules54
