Hi Clare and welcome to the forum that no-one really wants to sign up to! Sorry to read about your dad's diagnosis.
Your feelings are understandable, but most of us seem to find that once we've got all the information and a treatment plan, somehow things seem more manageable to cope with.
One piece of advice would be to avoid Google if you have any questions. Instead, stick to reputable sites like this one and the Macmillan site.
Please post as often as you need to as it often helps to offload to virtual buddies who can help to support you.
Sending you a hug, Jo xx
Hi Clare
Sorry to read about your Dad you always hope it won't happen to one you love. I lost my Mum to
Throat cancer when I was in my early thirties married also with two children. You just have to be
There when you can with Love and support. Like Joe has said when you get the results and a
Treatment plan things will be clearer. Let us know how your Dad gets on at his scan on Monday.
Best wishes. jean
Hi
Thank you both..
Monday it's his Gastroscopy not the pet scan now I've seen his letter.
I saw T2 N1 M0 on his letter to his gp so I Google that bit worried that the N1 means that cancer has spread to 1 or 2 lympth nodes...
I'll try not to google anymore bad enough as it is. I've brought him some complan as he can only eat biscuits crisps and ice cream :-/

Hi Clare,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis - but they have caught it relatively early (before M1) which is a good thing. It is still awful news though, I know exactly what he is going through as I was diagnosed with the same condition in October 2013.
Avoiding Google is a good thing. I'm sure you will have looked at the CRUK information on this website but if not you can find it at www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../the-stages-of-oesophageal-cancer
I wish I had lots of advice to hand out but everyone finds their own way through this. What I will say is that, however hard it is, keeping a positive outlook is very important if only because he will have some tough decisions to make and if you are positive you are more likely to make a fight of it.
Good luck to you and your Dad.
Dave
Hi Dave,
You think they have found it quite early?
I know the pet scan will look to see if it's anywhere else but feel worried about the lympth nodes that are noted saying there is cancer in them in his chest....
How are you doing now
Clare
2 weeks now since my dad's diagnosis and still waiting for the pet scan and have no idea what the gastroscopy has shown as need the pet scan before he sees the consultant to know what treatment he can have and if it's spread. He's currently living on porridge and complan..
Thanks clare
