Stomach cancer advice

hi first time poster .

My father in law has been diagnosed with proximal gastric adenocarcinoma t4b n2 m1 which having red the staging booklet is not a good sign. He was advised that the hospital that treated him it was to far spread. He is being referred for chemotherapy . I'm just after some I formation or advice if anyone has survived , what to expect or anything to help him along in his fight .

My wife has read the staging booklet but doesn't want to tell him how severe it is even though he was told it is bad. Any advice please

Thanks a lot in advance Chris

  • Hi Chris

I'm so sorry that you and your family are having to face this journey but you really aren't alone. I have no knowledge of this type of cancer  so I can't make any meaningful comment on it but I just wanted to say hello and welcome.

I'm sure you and your wife will make the best decision regarding telling your father in law just how seriously ill he is. Perhaps knowing he is very poorly without the whole truth might be best for him, perhaps not. Only you can know how he copes with bad news and how that is likely to affect his outlook.

Hopefully you will be getting lots of support from friends and family. Don't forget that's there's always a sympathetic lis tending ear right here on the forums.

Take care and be kind to yourself

    Netty
