Away to have surgery

Found out 5 weeks ago I have breast cancer, it is also in my lymph glands going for surgery on Thursday and have to say I am so scared. Chimo will follow what a bloody thought I'm 36 and not dealing with this now it seems so real.

  • Hi and welcome, although I am sorry to see the reason you are here. None of us expect to receive this kind of news and, yes, it is very hard to get your head around it, especially to start with. Being scared and having a sense of disbelief is totally understandable, all the lovely folk on here have been through this one way or another and would I am sure agree that it is hell. I hope you have family & friends to support you and I wish you all the very best for Thursday, and for your recovery. Take care and we will be thinking of you... Sue x

  • Hi there. Not sure if this helps you any but I am also 36 and only found out on Monday that I have DCIS and they wanted to remove it along with some lymph nodes to check if it's become invasive. I was told that day that they had a cancellation and I've now had my surgery done. It was a bit of a head rush to be honest but great to be treated so early. Now back to the waiting game for results. Not sure if you're getting the lump removed or a mastectomy, but I can say my surgery was really not as bad as I had expected. Yes I am uncomfortable and tender now but just glad things are moving in the right direction. I wish you a speedy recovery and try not to overthink the operation, these guys are doing this every day! Concentrate on your journey to good health.
