Anyone suffering from head and neck cancer?

Would really like to chat to someone suffering from throat cancer if possible

  • Hi Natslk

I responded to you on your other thread, linking you to a discussion on head and neck cancers. I hope you saw the post.

In the meantime I am responding here to bump you back up the list in case anyone sees this who has experience of throat cancer.

    Best wishes

    Jane

  • Just come on to this site to see if I can lend a hand to anyone. I had my treatment for throat cancer 6 months ago - 37 fractions of radio and 2 chemo. I tell it like it was for me - the most painfull thing was oral thrush after two weeks of treatment but thats because it flayered up on a weekend and I couldnt get the medication I needed. once I'd got the meds it was fine. I lost alot of taste and all saliva but it is coming back slowly with the help of a lamb madras. I could not eat for five months and was living on forteceps drinks but thankfully I'm able to eat again little and often. I mention my lamb madras because I can't tell you how over the moon I am at being able to manage this once more. I was told I may never eat this again. its also helping my saliva glands work. the main problem I have at this moment in time is *******@! tinnitus caused by the cisplatin chemo. It was all very scary to start with but my best advice is to have positive mental attitude. I'm now back at the Monday club and having fun. Stick in there, all my love xxx
