Just Diagnosed

After a mammogram on 6th May received a letter 10 days later for a recall on the Thursday of that week. Calcifications on left breast caused concern so I had a close up mammogram, a scan, 5 biopsys, a marker inserted and another mammogram. Had to go back on the following Tuesday 26th May, and was told its early cancer. I am having pre op this Thursday 4th June and lumpectomy on the 11th June. I find as long as I am around people I can put it to the back of my mind but when alone get very down. I have good friends but my partner suffers from bipolar and has been in bed for last three days so I feel alone, especially at a weekend. He cannot cope with any pressure whatsoever.

  • Good morning Beatle,

I am sorry to read about your recent diagnosis. Hopefully as it's early stage, there is a very good chance of a good recovery. But short term I know the stresses and emotions it brings out in even the strongest of us. That is why this site is so good for there are some wonderful people on here who know what it's like especially during the waiting period. Please post on here as often as you feel the need.

Wishing you all the best and please keep us posted, Brian.

  • Thanks to everyone who has replied to me. It is good to know that people on here understand how I feel. It's unbelievable how many of us are going through this. I find it very helpful to talk.

  • Hi there, you have definately come to the right place for friendly help and advice. As you say, there are an awful lot of people here who have been where you are now and we all understand how difficult it is to cope with such a diagnosis. I am further down the line, having had surgery in March, so if you have any questions or worries I am more than happy to help. Or, if you simply want to rant & rave, this is the place to do it!

Take care of yourself and do keep in touch. Sue xx

  • Hi Sue, thanks for your reply and support. It is helpful when someone understands. The waiting seems to be the worst from each stage until the next, it seems unreal. As I have said I am a positive person but it's still hard. Anne
