Waiting game

Hello,

a very close family member has just been diagnosed with cancer in both lungs, we are all devastated, he has lumps on both sides of his neck which he had a biopsy on 2 days ago, we waited a week for this appointment and have heard nothing in regards to treatment for his lungs, is this a normal timescale? All his files are red which we were told is high alert. This is all new to us and we don't know what to do.

  • It's usually a two wk wait for red flags. Waiting is awful, I got I herd within ten days, try not to panic xxx

  • Thank you so much, my uncle has been to the doc today for pain relief with his breathing, it just seems awful that he is so sick but nothing seems to be progressing with treatments, guess we just being impatient. X

  • Hi , I got told by a sergeon who was inspecting me that I had "by her knowledge of Wat she had seen before" that I had bowel cancer , she put on on a red flag for the camera , mri & ct scan , I got all letters within ten days , the whole process of bloods & scans took about 4 wks before they put everything together & decided on my treatment , waiting was the scariest part of all. & I was drained with emotions , my Gp prescribed me with diazapam & sleepers to help me though,  if your uncle mite want to ask help that way aswell? .I waz told waiting is not wasted time , the wheels are in motion & a plan for recovery is being made, . Hope use don't have to wait to long xxx katrina

  • Thanks Katrina, it seems like forever since we found out and four weeks seems like such a long time when he is struggling to breathe and coughs blood ever now and then. I have told him about joining here and that  it may help. Just wish I could help more or tell him something that would help, the waiting is turmoil......thank you xx
