Didn't ask any questions.

My DAD is 76 & has an ulcer on his tongue for the last 2 weeks, so GP sent him to hospital so we could find out whats going on, but the consultant had a look in his mouth & told us it's cancer & he needs a cat scan & a biopsy, plus he said my DAD has had it some because it is big (4cm)& it's under his teeth as well & i don't think my DAD hard him say it, we left without asking any questions as i think it's advanced as he's in alot of pain so not eating alot. So don't know whats going to happen?

  • That's very understandable - its quite a shock being given a diagnosis like that. (Many years ago I was with my mother when the doctor showed her a scan and told her she had terminal cancer, we just walked out in terrible shock).

Perhaps you should both be prepared with some questions for when you return to the consultant.  Write them down so youdon't forget.  I do hope your dad gets some help soon, especially for the pain.  Let us know how he gets on, please.

  • That's Pauline4 for your post & I will let u know the out come when we find out take care x
