On Easter SUnday my dad was admitted into hospital with a possible chest infection. We were then advised that he also had pneumonia, which was impacting on his body and not allowing him to have the strength to walk.
On the following Tuesday my dad went for a scan and we were advised that we would be told the results the following day. On Wednesday at 0915 we received a phonecall to requets for us to attend the hospital asap as my dad was extremely poorly and they feared for his life. My mum and I rushed to hospital in a turmoil.
My dad being the fighter that he has always been continued to fight this infection. On the Wednesday morning we were asked to see the doctor and were told that my dad had a large tumour attached to his lungs, his main organs had all been attacked and that it was too far to be treated. They also feared that the tumour was resting on his spine not allowing him to walk or have any movement.
We are now a week later and my dad has fought the pneumonia and the chest infection, however the cancer isn't going anywhere and we are not sure how to cope. Dad had a second scan which confirmed that the tumour was not touching the spinal chord however the whole back was riddled with cancer and it was in his bones. We now have to decide as to where dad will spend the rest of his days, we think he has months to live if he is lucky.
This has been the bigest rollercoaster that I have ever been on. Unsure as to how strong I can stay!!!
