Inner Ear Cancer

I have been diagnosed with cancer in my ear and after being told the procedure I have opted to go with natural treatmemt and work in my immune system.  Surgery and radiation seem very radical to me.

Hi Dodgeguy ...... I noticed you hadnt had a reply and just wanted to welcome you to the forum.  I must admit that I have not heard of ear cancer and have no knowledge of the treatments offered for it.  It may be a good idea to ring the nurses on this site (freephone) to gather as much information as you can before making any firm decisions. I know they have a section here regarding alternative therapies and will send you a link to it.  My personal thoughts are that it is may be a good idea to use immune boosting therapies alongside conventional treatment but potentially dangerous to use them as an alternative -  as I say though, thats my personal opinion..  The nurses will be far more help to you - their number is shown on the first page.  Wishing you all the very best and please keep in touch to tell us how you are getting along x

  • Hi Dodgeguy,

I have never heard of this cancer, but have they told you which sergery would be required and the stage of the cancer?

Surgery can seem very scary, but if they manage to take out all of the cancer it will save your life.

  • Cancer of the ear is very rare and yes we were told what all the surgery would involve (such as removing the skin inside of the ear channel (as it is a type of skin cancer), cutting behind thge ear to remove the ear drum and check re: the bones, taking flesh/fat from somewhere else to do some reconstructive surgery and also replace some of the cartilage of the ear)   There is also risks involved, such as a facial nerve and a main blood flow vein.  As he had cancer in a sinus 20 years ago in a sinus which is also very rare, and it had to be removed along with having radiation, we are aware that having radiation the second time isn't as effective and also he does not like the effects of this treatment.  Considering his age of 75 and not having any pain or discomfort with it, why go through all that trauma and pain when we stongly feel there is a better way naturally.  I do not condemn or point a finger at anyone who does go that direction as it is up to each one to deal with there situation, but we feel this is best for him.  Thanks you for your interest.

  • Well only you can decide this = I know some one who had that cancer and had radio and operation. Yea its quite a big operation - but she is well and active. Perhaps there are other treatments - I just don't know that one. Anything near to the brain is hmmm... well you know - difficult.

All the jolly best and lets know what happens and how it goes. Its a nice and friendly site this and I for one do have a place for other ways of looking at things
