I was diagnosed NYE with invasive breast cancer of the 'triple negative form' and am looking to chat with other people with this form of the disease. I am currenty half way through chemo FEC-T and am due to have a single masectomy with lymph node clearance followed by radiotheraphy to improve my long term survival from this horrid disease. I have been asked to take part in a clinical trial as they suspect i carry the BRCA1/2 gene and if this is the case would qualify to trial a tablet for 12 months following treatment, like hormonal driven cancers have tamoxifen to take. The only downside if I test positive is I have been advised to have the other breast removed as a precaution followed with reconstructiion at a later date and removing my ovaries. My great aunt died from breast cancer and my great grandmother died from ovarian cancer but my mother and aunt seem fine, so I suppose it makes sense to reduce the risk.
Anyone else have this form of the disease or know of long term survivers.
