Hi Jat165,
I just wanted to welcome you to Cancer Chat. I thought I would say hello and therefore bump your thread back to the top and I hope other ladies who have had vulval cancer will see your post and share their experience with you.
We have some useful information on our website on vulval cancer which you can read here. If you ever want to ask any question to our specialist nurses, you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Best of luck with the CT scan results. We are keeping our fingers crossed for you. Keep us updated on what they say!

Hi Jat, welcome to the forum, but sorry for the reason you are here. All of us on this forum are dealing with cancer in some way; either we have it ourselves, or we have a loved one with it. I have never heard of Vulval cancer and like you say, it is really rare. Is there something you can tell us about it, for example, how did you detect it, or what were your symptoms? I have bladder cancer and until I was diagnosed myself, I had never heard of it. I also have lung cancer and previously, colon cancer and as far as I know, there is no recurrance of the colon cancer. I will look on the resource section of this site to see if there is anything on Vulval Cancer there.
This forum is a good place to be where people are very caring and supportive, so continue to post and sooner or later, someone will respond. In the meantime, I wish you well with your follow-up and please come on here to let us know how you are doing. Good luck with everything.
Lorraine
Hello Jat165,
How have you been since you last posted? We hope you have been well in the last few months and that you found out more following your CT scan and had a good treatment plan. I just wanted to let you know that someone posted yesterday who was looking to talk to others with vulval cancer.
You can read her thread here and feel free to respond if you wish!
Best wishes,

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with vulval cancer. It seems we are a rare breed! I had my lymph nodes checked with an MRI a few weeks ago which was clear and just recently had a ultrasound scan done to check microscopically just in case MRI missed anything. Not had result back yet. It would be lovely to chat with someone. Sending you love and hope to hear back from you. X
hi my name is jennie, i am 70 and I was diagnosed with a malignant vulval melanoma in july 2015 and had my operation to excise the cancer on the 6 august, since then I have been back to see the consultant and it is healing well, am now awaiting an appointment with skin specialist to see where we go from here. Since my operation my emotions have been very up and down, having good and bad days but I still feel that there is something not quite right down below, I don't know if anyone else feels this way, I did have an infection and thrush which I received canestan cream and pessary as well as antibotics. I feel like there is a swelling down there that feels just awful, extra sensitive and fleshy im not explaining it very well as its hard to describe. I keep putting sudocream to try ease the discomfort or e45. has anyone felt like this I know they literally had to pull the skin up to replace the excised area basically making a new vulva but I just want to know of this is normal. I would be grateful for any replies
Hi Jennie, I read your post and can understand the type of things you are going through. I had my second operation to remove lymph nodes on both sides of groin and a larger incision in the perineum area about a month ago after being diagnosed with vulval cancer back in August this year. It has been a slow recovery. I understand how you explain that things still do not feel right down there. I am quite swollen in that area and it feel completely abnormal.
They excised quite a large area around my perineum which has made the area feel very tight and very sensitive. I have not had any type of thrush or infection but the whole area feels extremely sore. I too, have good days and bad days. I have had a great deal of support from family and friends but it feels like everyone has resumed with daily life and I still feel newly diagnosed.
The Doctor says he managed to get clear all the cancer but I still have pre cancerous areas around what's left of my perineum area. The Doctor says if I had any larger of an incision then I would have needed skin grafting. It's a hard thing to hear that you still have pre cancerous cells after going through so much. I would love to hear back from you and hear how you are doing. Victoria x
