Hi I have been diagnosed recently too, I choose the lumpectomy over mastectomy as wanted to try and retain some of me! My Breast was left quite empty but have had a reconstruction last week and touch wood all ok. I also had my lymph nodes taken. I was given the choice of lumpectomy or mastectomy as my surgeon was very honest and said he thought he could get it all out, thankfully he was right. I was however ready after if the margin were not clear yo gave a mastectomy. Now just waiting for results on lymph nodes very nervous. More scared of chemo than surgery. Go with your gut if you get a choice I'm glad I did x
