Anxious about surgery

I was diagnosed with soft tissue cancer in my left leg last week and will hopefully have it removed within the next few weeks. I wasn't told much about how the surgery would affect my leg after and am starting to feel really anxious about being able to walk as its all around my knee joint. Has anyone else any experience of this ?

  • Hello Tizzard53,

Welcome to the Cancer Chat forum. I know that lots of our members here will be able to recognise the anxiety that you talk about although they may have had different cancer diagnosis. It's understandable that you feel concerned about your treatment and what will happen afterwards.

You mention that the operation isn't for a few weeks yet; do you have another appointment with the Dr organised? Lots of our members say that writing down questions before an appointment is helpful as quite often it's easy to forget things on the day.

We do also have a team of nurses here at Cancer Research that you can call to talk to. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (free to call from a UK landline).

    Best wishes,
