vocal chord cancer (T1) laser treatment, need advice

Have had laser surgery in sept for early vocal chord t1 cancer and was told it was successful but a month ago I had a check up which revealed there has been a reacurrance ( though only small and on the surface) so have had more laser surgery in the hope that will do the trick as the surgeon says its too small to warrant radiotherapy. Has anyone else had this kind of treatment and is this usual?( reacurrance and more lasering). I'm very concerned that this treatment may not be working or that cancer may keep coming back, resulting in radiotherapy and the possibility of eventually loosing my voice box. I know its early days and I'm probably worrying too much but would be very grateful if there is anyone out there who can comment on this.

  • Hi Andy,

That is fantastic news matey....have you celebrated yet?

I hope that doesn't mean you will not come on here again and will keep in touch with your fans.

Glad it was good news and looking forward to that 5 year window!

    All the very best

    Tony

  • Hi Andy

That's FANTASTIC news!!   I know exactly how you feel, it's a huge relief and I'm so happy for you.

I'm sure they told you that it's monthly visits for the first year, 2 monthly the 2nd year, 3 monthly for the 3rd year and then it goes up to 6 months.  I'm now on 6 monthly visits but I quite liked the reassurance every 3 months as I worry every time my voice is a bit hoarse (mainly caused by my constant chatting)!

Now we really must crack open that bottle of champagne soon!

I'm so happy for you Andy and I know your voice will just keep getting better.

    Love Marion xx

    Will be in touch soon.

    Andy

  • Hi Tony,

Thanks for your message. Had a large glass of champers at the w/e, which went down a treat and thank you for your good wishes. I will definately still be on here and hope I can help others as you have all helped me.

    Best to you too.

  • Hi All

Just a quick up date:- My husband had a check up again last week and got the all clear yet again ( feels good to type that) they have sent him for a chest  xray for a cough but i think it is just nerves as his appointment gets closer i am sure this started and its fear coming out in a cough (well fingers crosssed).

  • Hi Luckyus

That's really good news - you must both be so relieved!  I have been thinking of you although I haven't been on this thread for a while.

I¿m meeting up with Andy (Zarker) and Chris (Chris 77) tonight so I¿m really looking forward to seeing them in person!  It¿s great that what started off as a post from Andy, has led us to all meeting up.

Keep posting as I do check every few days.

    Take care.

    Love Marion x

  • Hi luckyus

I just wanted to say i happy i am you got a clear scan and i hope everything goes ok with the xray. There are some nasty summer colds doing the rounds. It is difficult not to worry abourt every ache,my sillyest one was when i first wore my wig and my head began to really ache in an odd way and i wandered round this beautiful summer fair with my family thinking Oh good it has gone to the brain. It took me a good couple of hour to realise that the stupid wig was to tight.
