Ependymoma-Brain Tumour

Dear All im new to here and was told via a letter that i have a 1cm ependymoma brain tumour grade 2 at the base of my brain. Anyone had any treatment for the same ? I have just sent my consultant a letter to ask a whole host of questions but would be great to get feedback from anyone who is in the same boat.

  • Hey Blossom,

I have a virtually identical prognosis. At first, I had my tumor surgically resected, and irradiated for a recurrence. I have another recurrence now, and with surgeries, 30+ for initial resection, and complications, so, because of risks, of surgery (I had meningitis, have 3 shunts, Hydrocephalus, and lost my ability to walk without a walker.) I think I will go the chemo, and radiation route now, even though surgery provides a better prognosis. I recommend doing whatever you’d like, but be aware of side effects, and risks.

  • Hi Ksm,

I can see you've replied to someone on a rather old discussion so I just wanted to pop by to say hello and welcome you to the forum :)

I'm sorry to hear you now have another recurrence of your brain tumour but I'm glad you've decided upon the right treatment for you.

Do let us know how you're getting on when you can Ksm. We'll be thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed that you don't experience as many complications or side effects as you did the first time round.

    Kind regards,
