Hi.  I’ll try make this short… I doubt I will. This post is being written at 3.42am after going down the rabbit hole of survival rates etc.  

30/06/26 - found my labia was black and weird 

01/07/26 - GP appointment and the fast track referral to cancer clinic

07/0726 - examination by consultant who said ‘it’s nasty’ but we have to wait.  Had a really adult conversation with her.  I told her I thought it was a melanoma, she agreed but could not say if it was malignant.  I knew it was.  

21/07/26 - yup it’s malignant.  

The following 2 months of scans, more scans, pre op assessments etc. 

09/11/26 - removal of labia, healing very well apart from the piles, thrush and not being able to sleep.  Hence this post.  

This type is rare, my scans showed it hadn’t spread to the lymph nodes but MRI cannot show small cells, there is a size limit, so it may have and I don’t know.  Yet.  

It’s only 10 days since they took ‘Veronica’ she is being sliced and diced and stained etc now, hopefully the histology report is favourable.  

I have had no sentinel node biopsies.  That’s a question I will be asking when I have my follow up appointment on 28/09.  

Does anyone have any experience of mucosal melanoma?  And willing to just chat about it.  

Tonight I can’t sleep and when I sleep I research and then end up crying because…. See the first line of the post.  

I am usually ‘it is what it is’ till around 3am… then I cry, think I’m going to die tomorrow etc.
