Lower leg lesion had for 3 months

Have a Lowe leg lesion went to the gp he said I did not meet criteria and gave me flouracil for 4 weeks . Did not go away so back to doctors and now on 2 week pathway. Mine stings and burns and is flat like scar. I have looked it  up and it could be aggressive BCC and I am scared to death. Any one else had these feeling or aggressive BCC

  • Hi Banker

You will not know what it is until the specialists at Dermatology have a look at the lesion. BCC is usually slow growing while SCC can develop more quickly. The lower leg is a common site on women. Treatment is usually surgery to remove it which in near 100% effective. You likely have other sun damaged areas of skin and it is worth taking the usual precautions to avoid strong UV sunlight to prevent further occurrences. There is a long wait on the NHS for this type of surgery typically 9 months in our NHS Trust. If it is a BCC / SCC and you can afford to, consider private treatment even then there is quite a wait. Ive had many of these removed and if you follow the surgeons after care instructions it will be successful. Best
