Breast cancer

A friend has recently found out she has breast cancer and has told me I've not been supportive.

  • Hello LittleParrot

I'm sorry to hear that a friend has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and that they shared with you that they felt you hadn't been supportive. It must have been a difficult moment for you both.

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, it can bring many different, and sometimes difficult, emotions and thoughts to the forefront. Perhaps it would be possible for you to arrange to talk with your friend about how they're feeling and what it is they feel they need from your friendship while they go through this journey. It will give you a starting point to decide if you're able to offer the support that your friend needs and work out a plan together about how you can move forward.

If it would help to chat with one of our nurses for some advice, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

I wish your friend well during her treatment, and I hope that the two of you are able to find common ground to move forward together.

    Best wishes,
