Bras for larger ladies

I was diagnosed two weeks ago with DCIS and IDC (stage 2 admixed), and had a wide local excision and sentinel lymph node removal yesterday.  More than half my boob gone.  Now facing chemo and radiotherapy.

What I would love to know is:  where does one buy bras for plus size ladies?  I'm a 48 DD/E and I have not been able to find post surgery/mastectomy bras in that size, like anywhere.  I bought what was supposed to be a 48 from Amazon, but I can't even get it closed.  I've been wearing these soft cotton crop top type bras, but they're not very supportive and it hurts when I walk, as the boobie wobbles lol.  Plus I can't lift my arm to get them on!

If anybody had any suggestions I would be eternally grateful - and so will my poor boobies lol.

    Hi. When I lived in England my partner's specialist breast cancer nurse recommended the bra fitting service at Marks and Spencer. They were very understanding of her clinical needs and extremely helpful. This was a few years ago but I'd say it's definitely worth a try. I hope you find a solution somewhere. Best of luck.

    Thank you, but I've looked at M&S online and they only seem to go up to band size 42.

    Oh, I'm sorry. I seem to remember they fitted her with a bra unlike anything I'd ever seen before, so I wonder if it might be worth popping into M&S if you ever find yourself near one. Just a thought.

    I'm sorry you're having so much trouble finding post surgery/mastectomy bras in your size. This must be very frustrating and as you say, not very nice for your poor boobies.

    I've done a bit of research and found the following websites - Eloise Lingerie, Nicola Jane and Betty & Belle - may provide these types of bras in your size. I hope this helps but if you'd like to see if our cancer nurses can assist you further, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to help. They can also any other questions or concerns you may have about your diagnosis and treatment.

    I'm not sure from your post if you have been assigned a breast cancer nurse but if you have, do have a chat with them about this as well (if you haven't done so already) as they may be able to provide further recommendations and advice.

    I hope you're able to get some supportive bras in your size soon and all goes well with your upcoming chemo and radiotherapy.
