Lower Oesophageal Cancer

Hi, just been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer where it joins my stomach. I reported some eating issues to my GP on a Tuesday. That Friday I had a gastroscopy at my local hospital which confirmed it, then in the afternoon had CT scan.

My details went before the MDT, exactly 1 week after scans, and i now have a meeting on Wednesday. I am concerned that how fast this has moved indicates a level of severity.

I had never heard of this cancer until i was told I have it, just over a week ago.

Trying hard to deal with the waiting...

  • Hi Gensei,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sure this must be a lot to try to process. I can understand your concerns about how quickly you've had the appointments - although hopefully the reduced waiting time is helpful in a way in terms of finding out information and next steps sooner.

I hope that things go OK on Wednesday - try to make a note of any questions you may have ahead of the appointment.

We're always here for support on the forum and I hope that it can be helpful for you. My reply here will give your post a little boost so a few more people should see it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have made a list of questions, so i feel prepared for the meeting.

I am finding that keeping busy is the key, on menial tasks that dont require any level of mental focus.

I am also now meditating again which helps.

    Kind regards,

    Gensei
