Myxoid Liposarcoma - it's taken 18 months to get this diagnosis. Usually I have a positive attitude but today I'm feeling low

Diagnosed with myxoid liposarcoma after a biopsy taken from my leg 2 weeks ago. Taken 18 months to get to this point a little frustrating tbh.

I previously had non-Hodgkins lymphoma (2004) treated with chemo. All been good since.

Nov 2023 ended up with heart failure & had a mechanical heart valve fitted, felt great since then.

now after 18 mths when I first went to my GP @ a small lump on my leg & being passed from one specialist to another over the period in time, it has eventually come to this diagnosis

Discussed with the wife who has been tremendously supportive over the years to which I’m extremely grateful & honoured.

Always treated my previous diagnosis with a smile & get on with it attitude, however today I feel very deflated.

  • Hi Coley. I just read your message and I really do understand how you feel. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Saturday and I really didnt feel any worry or anxiety at all. I am just like ok what's next, let's get on with it. But that positive attitude never lasts forever. We all have hills and valleys. When you have been so positive I think people expect you to remain that way, but you have to allow time to cross the valley as well as the hill. Allow yourself to feel what you are feeling today. Invite the feeling in, it is there for a reason. You have been through a lot already and now there is another hurdle to jump. It is normal to feel the way you are feeling. No need to fight it, If it helps to talk I am happy to be here for you. I wish nothing for you but a speedy recovery and all good days. Hugs xx

  • Thank you for your very kind words ️ I’m sure once I’ve digested the information properly I’ll get on with it as I did previously. There’ll be good days & bad days so onwards & upwards.

  • Hi there, thank you for your very kind words & taking time to reply it’s much appreciated ️

it’s now time to process the information & regroup. As I’ve previously done I’ll face whatever comes head on & go from there. Positive attitude is what’s needed now so onwards & upwards

  • Of course you are right :) Even taking cancer out of the equation we all have good and bad days. Aim to have more good than bad and youre doing better than most people in this world. Attitude is key. Make sure you are taking time out for yourself. Sounds like such a simple thing but I found that was the hardest thing to do. I always find something to fill my time, usually on some nonsense lol But to take just 30 minutes for yourself and enjoy the silence, listen to the birds singing or just breathe, there is amazing healing in that too :) Hugs and well wishes to you. Message anytime xx
