Newly Diagnosed

Hi , I have been diagnosed on 02/02 yet the doctors knew before. How long is reasonable to wait for hysterectomy?

Thanks

  • Hello Rovers2020,

Thank you for sharing the news of your diagnosis with us - if you don't mind me asking, what was exactly your diagnosis? So it's been nearly a month since your diagnosis and I can imagine it is a bit of a stressful time for you having to wait for a date for your hysterectomy. I am not sure myself how long you would normally wait for a hysterectomy but it might be worth asking your specialist or medical team who will be able to give you an estimate.

We have detailed information on our website on the radical hysterectomy which I hope you will find useful and if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will hear from others on here who have been in a similar position and have had to wait for a hysterectomy after their diagnosis and that they will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie, thank you for your reply.

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Sadly the communication I have received from the hospital has been poor and had to wait 6 weeks for the results of the biopsy even though it was sent to them as urgent..

I have a pre op assessment on 09/03 but then will have another wait for a operation.I am very overwhelmed with the whole situation at the moment.

Thank you for listening to me

    Kind Regards
