Lung Cancer

  1. Did the lung cancer screening programme which came back with  5pm tumour in right lung. I was so shocked and still am as I feel absolutely fine! Am awaiting pet scan. I had to ring McMillan nurses to ask how my mdm meeting went to be told I need a pet scan. Why did I have to ring to find this out? I’m so anxious is anyone else dealing with this and any advice please
  • Hello Sonbon,

I can imagine it was a bit of a shock for you to find out you had a tumour in your right lung especially given that you had no symptoms. It must be a rather anxious time for you as you are awaiting a PET scan and having to ring the Macmillan nurses to get more information and find out you needed a PET scan must have given you additional stress.

This is bound to be a time uncertainty for you and there is information on our website on lung cancer which you might want to have a look at. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to listen and give you guidance during this stressful time.

Hopefully it won't be long until you get definite answers and a bit more clarity but in the meantime, have a look at our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will also hear from other members of our community who are dealing with something similar and that they will share their story with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for responding. I’m being told by others to request to go to the xxx as they are there and can’t fault them. I don’t know what to do and just wish my consultant would talk to me about their findings instead of me ring my McMillan nurse to find out what’s happening next. I’ll be ringing tomorrow again ad I haven’t received my pet scan appointment which apparently is Wednesday. Is anyone else finding the same problems?
