My daughter was due to get married this April but she's had to have surgery on her bowel and lesions have been found on her liver. I'm devastated

Hi, my daughter has had to have a large tumour and a bowel resection and a stoma bag and there are lesions on my daughters liver. I'm devastated as she had her wedding all planned and booked in April. My daughter should be going home today, but has been told they will send her an outpatients appointment and an oncologist appointment to discuss the results and plans of action ,but they did tell my daughter  that the next step will be chemotherapy. Praying every day night, my precious daughter will get through this. My daughter  is just turned 44yrs of age.

  • Hi Jolamine, and thank you for your reply. Yes its hard for me to deal with,my beautiful  daughter is so strong so far, chemo should start within the next two weeks. So 2 rounds of 36/40hrs of chemo which my daughter will be going home with a chemo.bottle/pump.

The oncoligist has said the wedding can go ahead, its a twilighr wedding  5pm. Just worried at how chemo will.effect my girl,as side effects are extreme sensitivity to cold, which csn affect the throat and voice...hot/warm drinks can help. Also aching joints.my dsughter has really bad rhuematoid arrtheritis, and her meds for that have had to stop.

Its never a good time to get any cancer, but with the upcoming  wedding ,which should be the happiest day in her life( apart from thiern17 yesr old son) its just so unlucky to be just before the wedfing.

My only wish is my daughter can go on to zap these umoppeable liver cancer lessions, shrink them so that they can go from unoppersble to oppersble, and from being treatable, but not curable, to curable.

Praying that this will happen .

    Thanks again jolamine xx

  • Hi Jass,

You must feel absolutely devastated - this is every mother's worst nightmare! Despite putting such a brave face on things, I expect that she is already finding the stoma a challenge and I hope that it can eventually be reversed. It sounds as if the chemo won't start until just after the wedding, which is good, as she should still be able to enjoy her special day without feeling too exhausted.

There is never a good time to get a cancer diagnosis, but it is particularly bad luck to get this just before her wedding. As we both know, she has a lot of challenges ahead of her, but with her indomitable spirit and the support of yourself and her future husband, I am hoping and praying for her. Please remember that I am always here for you and your daughter any time you want to talk.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine

Chemo will.start  just before her wedding. Theres  just 6 weeks till the wedding, and oncoligist has said " that they will get 2 sessions of 36/40 hours each one of  chemo, think its called Flolfox a combination.of folnic acid ( leucovorn),Fluorouracil 5-Fu. and Oxalipitlan.

So just praying she can cope.

    I obvously.am.not sleepimg much.

    Xxx

  • Hi Jass,

I'm not surprised, but remember that no amount of worry will change things and you'll soon have an important part to play as 'Mother of the Bride', so you need your beauty sleep. If it continues to evade you, it might be worth having a word with your GP. S/he could give you a sleeping tablet to help out for a while.

I have everything crossed and hope and pray that Folfox does what it's meant to do.

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine

I will.post on here to let you all know how things go. Have a nice weekend xx.

  • Hi Jass

So sorry to hear of your daughter's diagnosis. You're so generous with your time for others on this site - I just wanted to thank you for that and to say - I'm and I don't doubt  everyone is wishing you and your daughter well.
