Cannot stop crying

Hi recently been diagnised with breast cancer in November last year.  Awaiting surgery in a weeks time.  I cannot stop crying.  I'm afraid and anxious.   Please help.  How can I get through my journey.

  • Hi SKW16,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is unfortunately, not at all unusual to cry copiously after getting this news. Many of us do this, but don't worry about it, as it's a good way to relieve some of the stress that you're under. Being afraid and anxious is also common. Do you know what type or stage your breast cancer is? Some cancers are more aggressive than others. You are going through a very uncertain stage, which is difficult to deal with when there are so many unknowns. It actually becomes easier to cope with this as you find out more about your condition with the passage of time.

Breast cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer. Have you discussed any treatment options yet? Until you know more about your condition, avoid consulting "Dr Google", as much of the information is poorly researched, out of date and aimed at the more severe cases. This won't give you and answers and will only serve to scare you further. Don't look too far ahead. Take things day by day or even hour by hour if necessary. Keep yourself as preoccupied with other pursuits as possible.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
