Concerned and confused - had ongoing abdominal pain for over a month. Struggling to be heard and listened to without feeling like a fraud

I have had ongoing abdominal pain for over a month now with other symptoms such as: losing weight whilst unable to exercise, feeling full when eating very quickly, night sweats and extreme fatigue. I have been backwards and forwards to my GP and my local hospital. I had a MRI which didn’t show any abnormalities. My WBC count and neutrophils were raised but other bloods all fine. I’m concerned it’s something more than just “abdominal pain with no real cause”. I’m also struggling to be heard and listened to without feeling like I’m a fraud from medical professionals which as a medical professional myself is upsetting. I don’t know what else to do.

  •  I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms MissTurner24, and that you don't feel like you're being listened to.

This must be very stressful but our community are here for you and hopefully those who have had similar struggles will offer their support and advice to you soon.

I hope these tips we have about talking to your doctor and this guidance I've found on The Patient's Association website on how to make the most of your GP appointment will be useful but if it would help to talk things through with someone, you can give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all that they can to help.

We're thinking of you MissTurner24 and hope you're able to get the answers and peace of mind you're seeking over your symptoms.

    Kind regards,
